Restaurant Opportunity Centers United’s mission is to improve wages and working conditions for the nation’s restaurant workforce. They comprise 13,000 restaurant workers, 100 high-road employers, thousands of engaged consumers united for raising restaurant industry standards. Co-founder Saru Jayaraman joins Edible Radio hosts Christine Friese and her brother Kurt Friese (a restaurant owner himself) for a discussion of the low wages and harsh conditions faced by many in the foodservice industry, and ROC’s suggestions for how to solve the problem.
